NOR LASTRINA HAMID
Lastrina’s love for the environment started when she was a child. Inspired by stories of the sea told to her by her father, uncle and grandfather who were working as sea captains or divers – this helped Lastrina to form a connection with the natural environment.
Today, Lastrina is Co-Founder of Singapore Youth Action Climate (SYCA), a ground-up community organisation started in 2015. SYCA’s mission is to meaningfully engage youths in climate action or environment-related volunteerism.
Other experiences under her belt include attending the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2015, where she delivered a speech calling on all nations to do their part to keep the global temperature rise below 1.5°C.
With 10 years of experience in the environment sector within Singapore, her primary interest lies in climate issues and how people respond to climate impacts.
