Charlene is Head of Core Services at Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) and oversees the delivery of services offered to clients such as crisis counselling, crisis activations, email befriending, 24/7 hotline and text messaging services. Charlene also oversees the volunteer management at SOS.

Her past work experiences include serving as Senior Social Worker, Clinical Supervisor and Head of Department at Boys’ Town, Fei Yue Community Services and Methodist Welfare Services respectively.

Charlene graduated with a B.A. (Hon) and a Masters in Social Work from NUS. She is also a Certified Crisis Worker endorsed by the American Association of Suicidology (ASS) and a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist by the Grief Recovery Method Institute.

Charlene strongly believes that SOS’ work is more than just preventing suicide, and she aspires to lead her team to achieve the organisational mandate of being an ‘available lifeline’ – speaking life into lives.
