HUMAN LIBRARY
The Human Library Books below will be part of the Launch day experience on 9th Jan 2021, where they'll share their journey of starting and running their own social good initiatives and you get to ask them anything you want!
SHERRY SOON
Sherry runs two groundups, Be Kind SG and Autoimmune Diseases SG. Be Kind SG aims to create awareness on how people can contribute in different ways to a happier and kinder society, while Autoimmune Diseases Singapore seeks to share information about autoimmune diseases relevant to Singapore and the ASEAN region.
JEN GOH
Jen runs Hopefull, a ground-up initiative that creates, gathers, and provides engaging educational resources for children and youths from low-income families by collaborating with Hopefull's network of local expertise. Apart from monthly-themed Tinker kits that they send to kids, they also curate and organize sporting activities and workshop opportunities for the communities they work with.
ABHISHEK BAJAJ
Abhishek started and runs 6th Sense, a volunteer group comprising of community workers, art educators, architects, engineers, among others, each bringing their gifts to serve residents of lower-income flats at Kebun Baru. They conduct bi-monthly self-expression sessions for children as their befrienders. They also organise a mother's circle which functions as a support group for the mothers.
NICOLE KAY
Nicole is founder of The Tapestry Project SG, a ground-up initiative which champions first-person stories on mental health on its online publication. The initiative has grown to help many due to its constant efforts in being authentic and sincere, researching and understanding of the gaps in society.
GILLIAN PECK
Gillian runs Bringing Love to Every Single Soul (BLESS), a 6-year-old non-profit organisation which acts as a community partner to other social service providers, to plug the gaps in interventions to support the less-privileged. Run solely by youth volunteers, everyone contributes in their own ways to support the organising and operating of BLESS' programmes.
JONATHAN KUEK
Jonathan founded Matchsticks of IMH, whose volunteers engage residents of the Institute of Mental Health weekly in various activities, bridging the gap between them and the world outside the hospital. He champions having a strong conviction for sticking by your values and believes that nothing is more powerful than the ability to believe in yourself and the work that you do.
ADRIAN TAN & GREG TAN
Adrian and Greg co-founded and run SG Assist, which started out as a formal solution for caregivers who may not always be home to tend to the beneficiaries, thus requiring the help of neighbours. Today, it has become a large neighbourhood-volunteer network accommodating to a larger variety of requests.
